Self-Paced Training

Self-Paced Training or Computer-based training (CBT) is an instructional approach that utilizes computer technology to deliver educational content and facilitate learning. In CBT, learners interact with software applications or digital platforms that present information, demonstrate concepts, and offer exercises or assessments. This method allows for self-paced learning, where individuals can progress through the material at their own speed, pausing or repeating sections as needed. CBT often incorporates multimedia elements such as images, videos, animations, and simulations to enhance comprehension and engagement. Additionally, an effective CBT program offers interactive features like quizzes and virtual labs to reinforce learning and assess and document comprehension. This approach provides flexibility in terms of time and location, as learners can access the training materials from anywhere with an internet connection. Overall, computer-based training offers a scalable, cost-effective, and efficient way to deliver education and skills development across various subjects and industries.

Self-Paced training refers to a process where learners take responsibility for their own learning and development. In this approach, learners can complete training objectives at convenient times that make the process less stressful and more efficient.  Further efficiencies are gained since additional instruction and administration labor is not required.

SBS Training Database and SBS Ground Control have comprehensive Self-Paced Training modules.  This feature allows a company to design training content that may be uniformly deployed across the organization using standard Office software, embedded videos, or external training documents.  A quiz may also be created to measure training effectiveness with pass/fail criteria.

After learners log into the program, they are presented with their required training.  They select from the list and begin reviewing the pre-programmed training material.  If needed, the learner can repeat any presentation component. 

When all material has been reviewed an optional quiz will be presented.  The quiz may be configured with a minimum score to pass the training class and an option to re-take the quiz.

All transactions are recorded as a training event and credit is automatically given upon successful completion.  In this way, an employee may complete training without any outside assistance or cost for training administration.

This system improves efficiency, reduces training costs, and, assuming the content is well designed, improves comprehension.

One customer going through a merger, reported completing 3000+ hours of combined training in less than 4 weeks.  They considered this module essential to their success.
